Bird’s-eye view Azerbaijan

Few days ago I stumbled upon gorgeous bird’s-eye view photos of my homeland, Azerbaijan. It’s truly amazing how familiar places can look so different when you change the angle and your perspective!

I go to sleep and then I wake up in a strange and beautiful dream. I open my eyes and I see that the sun has lit my room and painted all things in bright colors. There’s so much light everywhere around me! It must be a warm and sunny day. I get up and I walk to the living room. It’s is also illuminated by the light. I open the door and now I’m standing on the porch smelling the flowers and filling the lungs with fresh air.

To this day I never felt this way before! I feel life running through my veins! I see myself as strong and gentle being, passionate and calm at the same time. I’m going with the flow of the Universe, trusting the Divine. I feel lightweight. In fact, I feel so light that I can easily take off the ground and touch the sky, fill the sky and be one with it. In a flash of light, I remember my childhood dreams. I was sitting on the balcony watching birds. How they slowly flap their wings to gain height and then glide so gracefully, so effortlessly, like they are one with the sky.

Is it possible? Can my childhood dream come true? Cautiously I climb on the balcony railing and I feel wings on my back. I spread the wings and I push off the ground. Flying seems so natural! As if I was meant to! As if I always knew how to fly, just haven’t used this gift for a while! Gliding and rising above the trees and roads I watch people, cars and buildings become smaller and smaller.

I head towards the sea. Then I fly above the city. Everything seems so different from above! Then I head even further toward the mountain tops. I watch the rivers and roads framing the beautiful green land. Such a masterpiece! Creator is the greatest artist! Earth as a canvas, I imagine him mixing  colors, letting them flow one onto another, creating steady strokes, carrying over passion and love upon the painting and smiling at the beauty of his creations.

Like an eagle, I swirl effortlessly, one with the wind, I pause only to notice how all the problems, concerns, everything that seemed so large and important is nothing more than a dot in the vast Universe. I remember that infinite happiness I felt when I was a child. I remember my true self, my infinite nature and limitless capabilities. I will wake up from this dream, but I will always remember.

  1. lovely writing, lovely message, and the images of Azerbaijan- just wow, the flame towers have a really cool architecture! And those islands aerial view, to the Georgian church high up in the mountains…it all looks so incredible, and unique.

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed this post! I know I might sound cheesy, but it melts my heart every time I see your comment 🙂

I was fascinated myself when I saw the pictures! Everything looks so different from above! A friend of mine works for a company that owns a flying droid (a device that is able to fly and take pictures) and he works at a hotel by the seaside and he made most breathtaking time-lapse videos of the sea, sunset and clouds over there. I’m sure that thing is pretty expensive, but it would be so lovely to do time-lapse bird’s-eye view videos around Azerbaijan. I hope I can make this project reality one day!

I remember I saw the movie ‘Earth’ on YouTube some time ago. It was filmed by famous French aerophotographer and he filmed Earth from above from almost every country (few countries declined to give him approval for filming) and it was so picturesque and magical, although there were parts of the movie that make you sad when you realize how much damage we’ve done to our mother Earth and devastating circumstances in which a lot of people live in. I will try to find a link, if you’d like to see it too 🙂

  2. Hahah, awwh no not at all, that is not cheesy! I really enjoy talking to you too, and getting a reply from you- so, it’s lovely.

I think I re-call the Earth film (then again I think I saw one with a similar title..but it didn’t involve aerial views, or time lapses..more so- something a bit more avant garde with dual worlds..kind of strange actually lol) ,but I have definitely never seen that.
I think that would be incredible if you were able to get behind a creative project like that- to take, and see all of the aerial views.
Someone once posted a photo of an eagle in flight taken by droid/drone..it was pretty cool, who knows what unique shots you’d be able to capture with that device.

But that would be so fun, so I can see how it could be a dream project.(ask your friend if you can ‘borrow’ the droid :P)

So did your friend get to operate the droid for taking the images, or did he do all of the final touches/ like editing etc?

    • haha 🙂 yeah the thing is he already left the company that owns the droid… just so it on facebook few days ago 🙂 but I believe that if we want something, opportunity will knock on your door, so maybe one day the box with drone will be waiting outside my door 🙂 hehehe

I haven’t seen him in a while and I’m not 100% sure, but I think he was just editing images cuz he’s graphic designer. I’ll have to ask him next time I see him! 🙂

Also, I just realized I got the name of the movie all wrong. It’s name is actually ‘Home’, not ‘Earth’ 🙂
