Song of the day: Miley Cyrus – Climb

I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
You’ll never reach it,
Every step I’m taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what?s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing,
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes they knock me down but
No I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I’m going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It’s all about
It’s all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

Playing piano: Gloria Gaynor – I will survive

This blog represents all of my interests, but one thing I didn’t have a chance to tell you about  is that I play piano. I finished the music school, but last years of the school were so frustrating and exhausting that for several years I didn’t come anywhere close to the piano. Piano then moved from my room to the living room and stood there for years waiting for me to re-discover it.

My love for playing piano visited me again while I was studying in US. I discovered there a store with sheet music of so many of my favorite songs and I realized that I’m not forced to play etudes and gamut anymore which were mandatory in music school and I’m absolutely free to play what I want and how I want.

With the internet and so many opportunities to find sheet music and piano tutorials, my love for playing piano grew even stronger. My recent discovery is Chromatik app, which deserves a separate post. App owners add new sheet music every day and it’s available to learn and play for 7 days. Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I will survive’ was one of the recent additions in the app. I love the song and the attitude of being strong and standing up for yourself. I can’t add the sheet music from the app because of copyright. However, while looking through different videos of piano arrangements, I found a video with most beautiful arrangement by Pippo72 that absolutely stole my heart. And the author generously shared the sheet music of his arrangement. I contacted the author and he kindly agreed to let me share the sheet music and video with you.

I’m still learning to play this piece, but once done I hope to add the video of me playing and maybe I will start adding my own videos on YouTube and become vlogger too! đŸ™‚

Album of the day: G I R L by Pharrell Williams

pharrell_girl_album_cover_a_s

Pharrell Williams is one of my favorite artists. His and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” was a theme song of last summer, then was “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke and after that absolutely amazing masterpiece “Happy”.

If I could select a theme song for One Happy Blog and as a soundtrack of my life, that would certainly be “Happy”. I cannot describe enough how much I love it! It’s lyrics, groovy music, to which you just can’t help, but dance and amazing 24 hour music video! This song has been on repeat and writing, doing stuff around the house and painting while listening to it, has been awesome and fun!

24 Hours of Happy!

The phrase that always cheers me up when I hear it is “Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof!” đŸ™‚ Inspired by The Daily Post – Pick Me Up.

Of course, I was super excited when I heard about his recent album G I R L and Pharrell did not disappoint me. I rarely buy the entire album, but this one is so worth it. Every track is absolutely amazing and one track perfectly flows into another and creates a story. I love Pharrell’s vocals and his collaboration with Justin Timberlake (my love) and Alicia Keys (another love) is also awesome!

Ok, less talking… a song is worth a thousand words, so I’m sharing you my favorites from his album and if you would like to buy the album on iTunes, here is the link.

Have a happy day!

Love,

Natella đŸ™‚

Music Flashback: John Barry – James Bond Theme

Bond.......James Bond.......on the job!

Love this classic theme from the greatest spy movie of all times!

The “James Bond Theme” is the main theme of all the James Bond films and has featured in every one since ‘Dr. No’ in 1962.

Monty Norman has been credited with writing the “James Bond Theme”, and has received royalties since 1962. Norman collected around £485,000 in royalties between the years 1976 and 1999[1] For Dr. No, the tune was arranged[2] by John Barry, who would later go on to compose the soundtracks for eleven James Bond films.

Music find of the day: Akabu feat Alex Mills “Everybody Wants Something” Joey Negro Strip Mix

I don’t have to say much about this track – just enjoy smooth vocals, really nice old-school beats and synths!

This new track from Akabu features the soaring neo soul croons of Alex Mills (who you might recognize from Miguel Campbell’s ‘Something Special’).

The Joey Negro Strip Mix is unashamedly feel-good with its bouncing, skewed and spraying synths and driving bassline, with pristine production putting many imitators to shame.

“Love Will Save The Day”

Sometimes life can make you crazy
It can really put your body to the test
You try so hard to make sure everything goes right
And you find you’ve only wound up with a mess
It’s a common situation
Even though you feel abandoned and alone
Child, you ain’t the first to experience the hurt
So don’t panic when you hit the danger zone

[Chorus:]

What you need’s a little change of heart
Forget this fear and frustration
Love will always play the greater part
When your battles wear you down
Here’s my advice –
When you’re feeling down and out
And you’ve got troubles on you mind
Love will save the day
When you’re feeling full of doubt
And fear has got you in a bind
Love will save the day
When your worlds falling apart
All you have to do is say a prayer
And love will save the day
There’s an answer in your heart
So let your light shine on my dear
And love will save the day
Love will save the day [X4]

Many things in this world bring you down
It’s a wonder you can make it through the day
Well, you can’t sleep cause your problems are to deep
And there’s always something getting in the way
And when you turn on the evening news
Mass confusion is the only thing you see
Well there’s no question that we need a new direction
Cause we all could use some peace and harmony

[chorus]

Love is gonna save the day
You’ve gotta believe it

Tune of the day: Oliver $ & Jimi Jules – Pushing On

Loving this new track recently released by Defected Records. I admire old-school beats and soft vocals.

Following the success of their ‘Earl’ EP on Switzerland’s Hive Records, Berlin-based House staple Oliver $ reunites with Swiss Jazz House aficionado Jimi Jules to bring their anticipated debut release on Defected. ‘Pushing On’ opens with an infectious percussive medley composed of tropical triangles and melodious 808-like cowbells. With the gradual introduction of the moody, Frankie Knuckles inspired, bass line and tailing piano chords, the track slowly transforms into an energetic homage to classic Chicago House. Quick to take centre stage the track also features dusky vocal samples from Quantic Soul Orchestra, merging effortlessly with the wispy cymbal crashes, the song’s title and central lyrical theme, “Pushing On”, falls and confidently rises to drive the track to its spirited climax. And for those who don’t want the vocals there’s a dub thrown in for good measure. Already household names in their home countries, ‘Pushing On’ is sure set to solidify Oliver $ and Jimi Jules as international House providers.

Video of the day: Bon Iver – Holocene

Bon Iver is my recent find and addiction. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of them before. Apparently, they won two Grammy awards in 2012.

I love the melody of the song and the voice of Justin Vernon. And the music video itself deserves an award. Shot in a beautiful Iceland, the landscapes are magnificent.

Enjoy!
